5 Methods to Stay Fit During Summertime

It’s summer time which means its time to get out of the house and burning that winter coat! The problem is most people don’t enjoy working out so we have to do whatever we can to find fun and enjoyable ways to get our heart rate up and get healthy.. In this article we’ll discuss a number of my favorite ways to stay heathy in the heat of summer so that you can enjoy yourself and stay in your best shape all at the same time! Let’s dive right in..

First things first, we can take it back to our days growing up, back to the training wheel days when we used to ride our bike with an ear to ear smile. Nowadays, pulling out our bike its more of a workout than anything at all because we haven’t ridden the thing for years. We’ll it’s time to change that this summer! All you have to do is pull your bike out of the shed, dust it off and maybe drop it off at the bike shop for a new chain and some tubes in the tires! For an extremely small investment I time and money you can have one of the best ways to stay fit during summer..

Think of the possibilities! You can take the bike for a ride to the downtown to enjoy a brew with a friend or two, or even take it on a short ride around a local lake. There are so many journeys you can take your bike on for free just to get out of the house and get back in that summer time bod you miss so much.

If you don’t have a bike and don’t want to invest the $100 or so to grab one off the Facebook marketplace then you go for a hike or a run instead. I personally do not enjoy running as it hurts my shins and I just don’t push myself to get a full workout so instead of running I enjoy going for long hikes.

There are tons of mountains around the Tahoe area that I can go on long hikes or even camp if I feel like it. Hiking is a great way to get outside and enjoy some of the most beautiful scenery the world has to offer. There is a 4 hour round trip hike near me that leads to a beautiful waterfall where we enjoy picnicking before heading back. Heck, even if you don’t enjoy hiking or running just go for a walk around the block if that’s all you have time to squeeze in!

Another great sport and healthy habit is going for a daily swim. Not only is it a great way to spend a hot day outdoors but it’s a great way to burn calories and sweat out toxins from your body without even noticing it. You can spend an hour doing laps in the pool and burn a huge amount of calories without feeling like you’ve worked too hard. Unfortunately, there aren’t many options for swimming for me in my local area as I don’t have one in my backyard and none of the local gyms offer a sizable pool. So, I’ve had to find a work around for the pool and that is my new favorite way to burn calories..

YOGA…

If you haven’t tried yoga then you’re missing out on one of the most powerful ways to stay fit during the summertime. Yoga doesn’t have to be with goats or anything crazy like that. It could be you, your mat and a beautiful waterfall for example. Either way, YOGA helps you stay fit and keeps your body flexible. Stretching is extremely important to your overall health and should be part of your daily regimen already. If it’s not, then adding 5-10 minutes of simple yoga to your regimen can be a huge help. Stay limber and stay on top of your heath!

There are so many ways to stay fit during the summertime and we just covered a couple of our favorite methods to do just that including hiking, running, biking, yoga and more.
